July transport situation

Sea transport

CHINA – USA route

There is a reduced import demand on this route. The market demand for the first half of this month is stable. The shipping space is more relaxed, and the freight rates show a downward trend. West Coast congestion eased, but east coast congestion remains the same.

CHINA – Latin America route

The overall space situation remains tight and doesn’t show signs of changes for July. The freight rates continue to rise strongly.

China – Europe route

The space and empty container supply-demand are relatively relaxed in July compared to the months before. The container freight rate continues to decline. The strikes and congestion at some important European ports are affecting the port situation in China, especially in Shanghai. We do not expect signs of the critical port situation changes for this route.

China – Mediterranean route

The overall space situation remains tight. The rate level will stay the same with no expected monthly fluctuations.

Air transport

CHINA – Europe route

Most of the capacity is restored and back to normal. We expect the rates to fall in the next coming weeks. The strikes in Europe by the airlines and ports cause longer handling hours at the ports of destinations and congestions.

CHINA – USA route

The capacity has mostly recovered. The overall demand on this route is dropping. The power is more significant than the current demand. This results in an expected rate decrease.

CHINA – Southeast Asia route

Also, on this route, the demand is lower than the available capacity. We can see an incline in the rate level. The Asia Pacific epidemic prevention policies are also slowly eased.

We expect the Asia – America route capacity to remain the same throughout the year with no significant changes.

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine will probably affect the Asia – Europe route, reducing capacity.

This year, we expect an increase throughout the Asia Pacific route due to relaxed epidemic restrictions.
